Mr Bradley Wiggins: First British Tour de France victor. Most medalled British Olympian. Mod.

The most popular man in Britain right now is without doubt, north Londoner Mr Bradley Wiggins. Two weeks ago he became the first ever British winner of the Tour de France and then yesterday, in winning the Olympic time trial and Team GB’s second Gold of London 2012, he became the most medalled British Olympian.

As purveyors of all things hair, we’re most interested in those signature mod-style sideburns of his. So we asked fellow mod and Murdock Covent Garden barber Stephen Martin how to have sideburns like Wiggo.

  • ‘Firstly, for classic mod style sideburns to have the impact like Bradley’s do, the rest of your face needs to be clean shaven so use a good razor like the Ernest double edge safety razor or the Oscar. And you want them to be in line so hold the fingertips of your index fingers at the bottom of your sideburns so your fingers are at right angles to them. Have a look in the mirror and you’ll see whether or not they’re at the same level. If they’re not then shave them to level them out.’

  • Remember sideburn hair grows a lot faster than your actual hair so you need to regularly trim them with a beard trimmer so they don’t get too bushy.’
  • ‘Mod sideburns need a good short mod haircut. So keep it mod by having regular trims with your barber. You want to be Bradley Wiggins not Noddy Holder.’
