Experience:

Jonny has been working as a hairdresser for nine years, starting his career as a barber whilst he was studying photography at art college in
his hometown of Middlesbrough. After graduating, he soon became a salon session stylist.

Jonny packed his bags for the bright lights of the capital in 2009 to expand his career into the fashion industry – a particular passion of his ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­- and it certainly paid off. His talents are put to use by London Fashion Week every year, and he regularly works on shoots for adverts, magazines – such as iD and Harpar’s Bazar – and stores – such as Topman and Topshop.  

Jonny joined Murdock’s Shoreditch shop in May 2011, excited by the chance of working in a traditional environment with a modern twist, alongside other exciting barbers.

Definition:

“Although it’s good to have a haircut you can call your own, you should mix up your style slightly on a regular basis, so that when you do have a major cut, then people will judge it more objectively, rather than being shocked by the dramatic change.”

“Definitely Johnny Cash, the man in black. I love that slicked back look. It’s smart but with a sinister edge that makes it all the more exciting. With a black suit and shades, it doesn’t get much cooler than that.”

“Don’t be scared to use a hairdryer. It’s 2011, men can use hairdryers.”
